IAEA – Visit to Ukraine by the IAEA Director General (29 Mar. 2022)

France commends today’s visit to Ukraine by the IAEA Director General and his discussions with the Ukrainian authorities, which pave the way toward the implementation of an Agency plan to provide technical assistance to Ukraine. France stands ready to offer its full support for this plan.

From the outset, France has supported the efforts of the IAEA and its Director General to ensure the safety and security of civilian nuclear facilities in Ukraine, particularly through high-level talks with the Ukrainian and Russian authorities.

France remains extremely concerned by the risks the Russian aggression poses to the safety and security of Ukraine’s civilian nuclear facilities. It is therefore working actively to ensure the success of the IAEA Director General’s initiative.
