Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) – Election of Robert Floyd (May 21)
France welcomes Robert Floyd’s election today as Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO). His experience and qualifications and his plans for the organization have earned our full support.
France also strongly and gratefully applauds the crucial efforts by Lassina Zerbo, the CTBTO’s current Executive Secretary, who throughout his terms worked relentlessly to strengthen the organization and boost its membership, means and visibility on the international scene.
France, the first nation to sign and ratify the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) 25 years ago this year, underscores the importance of this treaty, an instrument useful to both nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation, calling for its universality and entry in force. We are counting on Robert Floyd to pursue this mission and offer him our best wishes for success in his new position.
