Following the success of the IXV vehicle mission, Europe has become one of the space powers capable of mastering controlled reentry techniques and has confirmed its role as a leading international actor in the space sector.
This mission also marks the fourth successful launch of the Vega light launch vehicle, operated by Arianespace at the Guiana Space Centre. Vega plays a key role in Europe’s launch service capabilities.
The mission was successful thanks in particular to the cooperation between the European Space Agency, the Italian Space Agency and CNES (Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales). It now opens up new operational opportunities in the area of reusable space capsules. It demonstrates the effectiveness of the European model, which is based on the sharing of national expertise in support of a common objective.
