Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke with Youssef al-Othaimeen, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and with Mohammed al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL).
These discussions fall within the framework of the ongoing dialogue France maintains with these two important organizations in the Muslim world. During this conversation, the minister continued the efforts to promote understanding and calm tensions initiated in the face of the misrepresentation and manipulation resulting from the campaign targeted against France over the last few weeks. He notably underscored that the fight we are leading together with our main international partners, regarding which France will never compromise, is targeted against extremism and terrorism.
At the same time, the minister reaffirmed France’s deep respect for Islam and the protective framework afforded to persons of the Muslim faith in France, in the same way as for people of all faiths.
