International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (6 February 2019)
February 6 is the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation.
Such mutilations are a serious attack on the physical integrity of women, on their dignity, and on their rights. They exemplify the continuing inequality between men and women.
With the President having made gender equality a central focus of his five-year term, France is working within the United Nations to combat female genital mutilation and is supporting maternal and infant health workers on the ground, notably through the French Development Agency (AFD).
