Syria – Threats to the safety of journalists (March 20, 2017)

France notes with dismay the report by “Reporters without Borders,” indicating that 211 journalists have been killed in Syria since the start of the civil war 6 years ago.

26 have been imprisoned and 28 have been taken hostage or reported missing.

This is an especially heavy toll, making Syria the world’s deadliest country for journalists and media professionals.

France reaffirms its commitment to the freedom of the press and the protection of journalists everywhere.
