Human Rights - Adoption of UN Security Council resolution 2272 on sexual abuse (March 11, 2016)

With France’s support, on March 11 the UN Security Council adopted resolution 2272 on sexual abuse in UN peacekeeping.

This resolution reaffirms the principle of zero tolerance for sexual abuse committed by forces sent or authorized by the UN to restore or maintain peace, and calls on all actors to redouble their efforts with respect to training and investigation.

This is an important step toward preventing and combating sexual abuse.
