Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, will receive and Danielle Bousquet, President of the High Council for Equality between Women and Men, on October 18.
This meeting will focus on the ministry’s efforts to implement the “Gender and Development” strategy and to promote professional equality between men and women within the ministry.
An interim report on the ministry’s “Gender and Development” Strategic Orientation Plan (2013-2017), was submitted by Danielle Bousquet on October 14.
Within the ministry, Jean-Marc Ayrault consistently focuses particular attention on the promotion of gender equality. There are currently 49 female ambassadors, including three in a G20 country. In August 2016, 35.4% of officials appointed for the first time to a leadership position were women. In 2015, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development achieved the goal of 30% female officials appointed to leadership positions for the first time.
