Day of International Criminal Justice (July 17, 2015)

On the occasion of the Day of International Criminal Justice, France reiterates its resolute commitment to oppose impunity wherever it occurs – the basis of lasting peace. It has supported the International Criminal Court since its creation, that court being the only permanent universal body competent to prosecute the presumed perpetrators of the gravest crimes that shock humanity’s conscience.

Thirteen years after the Rome Statute entered in force, France calls on those nations that have yet signed on to do so, so that those responsible for the crimes tried by the court are held accountable for their actions. States’ cooperation with the Court is necessary in order for it to completely fulfill its mission.
