United Nations – International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (February 6, 2015)

On the occasion of the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, France reaffirms its condemnation of these practices.

More than 125 million girls and women worldwide have been subjected to female genital mutilation. 53,000 of them currently live in France. Worldwide, nearly 3 million girls under the age of five risk being mutilated each year.

France is committed, both within multilateral forums and as part of its bilateral cooperation, to bringing an end to these mutilations.
