United Nations - Discussion between Jean-Yves Le Drian And Jan Kubis, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Libya - Statement by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs Spokesperson (12 Feb. 21)


M. Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke to the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Libya.

Following the appointment of a transitional executive authority by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, under the aegis of the United Nations, M. Le Drian highlighted the importance of a genuine transition to the election scheduled for the end of the year.

He emphasized the importance of the swift formation and investiture of an inclusive, representative government and the need for the ceasefire of 23 October 2020 to be fully implemented, particularly the departure of foreign forces and mercenaries.

He expressed to Mr Ján Kubiš France’s support for the United Nations’ efforts to allow a political way out of the crisis in Libya and an end to foreign interference.
