European Union – Promotion of European symbols – Speech by Nathalie Loiseau to the National Assembly (Paris, 27 November 2017)

Nathalie Loiseau, Minister for European Affairs, will speak on behalf of the government this evening during a debate at the National Assembly on the draft resolution aimed at promoting EU symbols. The debate will begin at 9:30 pm.

On October 20, President Macron reaffirmed France’s attachment to European symbols: the European flag, the anthem based on the “Ode to Joy,” the motto “United in diversity,” the euro, and Europe Day on May 9 – by joining Declaration 52 of the Treaty of Lisbon on the symbols of the European Union, signed by 16 member states in 2007.
