Discussions between Jean-Yves Le Drian and several of his counterparts (18 May 2017)

Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, established initial contact with eight of his counterparts on May 18.

Jean-Yves Le Drian discussed European issues with his German counterpart, Sigmar Gabriel, and his Spanish counterpart, Alfonso Dastis, as well as with Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

He notably agreed to work in close cooperation on international issues with his British counterpart, Boris Johnson.

Jean-Yves Le Drian reaffirmed to Ramtane Lamamra, Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Khemaies Jhinaoui, Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, France’s attachment to the special partnerships between France and each of their countries. The discussions provided an opportunity to take stock of current international issues and the strengthening of our bilateral cooperation.

Jean-Yves Le Drian also established contact with his UAE counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan. They took stock of the regional situation and the strategic partnership between France and the United Arab Emirates.
