Market access, an essential component of European Union commercial policy

With the active support of the member States, including France, the European Commission pursues a European strategy of market access, the aim of which is to improve access to the market for third-party countries by removing obstacles in their way. This complements European Union bilateral and multilateral negotiations by ensuring that the commercial outlets created under free trade agreements are reflected in real trade flows. Market access is a means of implementing the European Union’s commercial policy.
