Nord Stream 2 - Q&A from the press briefing (19 March 2021)

Q : U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken called on any entity involved in the Nord Stream 2 project to immediately disengage or face U.S. sanctions. What is your response to this threat which also targets French groups?

A : France’s position on this issue is well known. It is linked to our understanding of the issues pertaining to European sovereignty and energy security.

It is up to the German authorities to determine what action they wish to take on this project.

More broadly, the French authorities have also repeatedly expressed their position regarding extraterritorial sanctions and their effects.
