European Affairs secretary Harlem Désir is visiting IFP Energies Nouvelles (IFPEN) in Rueil-Malmaison. This public research, innovation and training institution working in the fields of energy, transportation and the environment is one of 12 winners of the Stars of Europe trophy, showcasing French entities that are on the cutting edge of research and innovation, and acknowledging the project coordinators for initiatives that receive European financing.
Mr. Désir will meet with the research team of the SiteChar project, which is working on carbon capture and storage. Other innovative projects will also be presented, including the transformation of biomass into fuel and chemicals, and the development of cleaner transportation.
This visit reflects our commitment to research and innovation in Europe, which offers prospects for the future and concrete solutions for its citizens. With the Paris Climate Conference taking place this year, Mr. Désir is also underscoring the importance of European cooperation as a vehicle to advance the fight against climate disruption.
