European Union - Participation of Harlem Désir in a meeting of the Union for the Mediterranean (Barcelona, 26 November 2015)

Harlem Désir, Minister of State for European Affairs, took part in the meeting of Union for the Mediterranean foreign ministers in Barcelona.

The meeting, organized 20 years after the launch of the Barcelona process – which established a cooperation framework between the European Union and the countries on the Mediterranean’s southern shore –, provided an opportunity to assess the action of the Union for the Mediterranean, established in 2008.

The participants worked on developing relations between the two shores of the Mediterranean. They took stock of the main challenges in the Euro-Mediterranean area, particularly in the fight against terrorism, the response to the crises in Syria and Libya and the Middle East peace process.
