European Union – Harlem Désir’s visit to the European Parliament (Brussels, January 26, 2015)

Harlem Désir, Minister of State for European Affairs, will visit the European Parliament in Brussels today to meet with Guy Verhofstadt, Chairman of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe group, and Arnaud Danjean (European People’s Party), Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Subcommittee on Security and Defense.

He will work with his interlocutors on the measures needed at the European level to effectively combat terrorism, including the discussions under way on a European Passenger Name Records (PNR) system. Reaching an agreement in the European Parliament and implementing a European Passenger Name Records (PNR) system as swiftly as possible are priorities.

A European solution should be given priority in order to ensure effectiveness and protect individual freedoms.
