Every year, May 9 marks the anniversary of the Robert Schumann Declaration. On this symbolic day, Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, will visit Strasbourg, the seat of the European institutions, notably the European Parliament.
Jean-Marc Ayrault will take part in the press conference for the “Strasbourg, the seat of the European Parliament” campaign.
Harlem Désir, Minister of State for European Affairs, will also attend a series of events to celebrate Europe Day. On Saturday, May 7, he will inaugurate, together with Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, the “European village” set up on the square in front of Paris City Hall. He will take part in a debate on Europe.
On Monday, May 9, Mr. Désir will meet with high school students at the Jean Monnet House in Bazoches-sur-Guyonne to take part in a debate on “Europe and young people” involving students from Hélène Boucher Vocational High School in Tremblay-en-France.
He will plant, together with the students, a tree symbolizing Europe’s commitment to young people. He will also visit Gustave Eiffel Vocational High School in Paris, which will host a day of educational workshops on Europe.
Harlem Désir will also sign an agreement with the European institutions on a strategic partnership on communication at the Maison de l’Europe de Paris, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
