European Union – Climate – Harlem Désir’s visit to Gironde (February 8, 2016)

Harlem Désir, Minister of State for European Affairs, traveled to Gironde to visit the solar photovoltaic power plant in Cestas and the Aquitaine Cap Métiers training center in Pessac.

The photovoltaic facility in Cestas, the largest in Europe, was inaugurated in 2015; it helps achieve the energy transition objectives. It received a €56 million loan from the European Investment Bank. The European Investment Bank provided a total of €8.7 billion in loans to French projects in 2015, an increase of 89% compared with 2012. Almost half of these loans finance projects that contribute to the fight against climate disruption.

The Aquitaine Cap Métiers regional information center for vocational education and training receives funding from the European Social Fund. It plays an exemplary role in mobilizing regional actors in support of training and employment.
