European Union – Cellphone service – Entry into force of the law to abolish roaming charges – Statement by Marielle de Sarnez (15 June 2017)

I welcome the entry into force today of the law to abolish cellphone roaming charges within 28 EU countries.

As the summer break approaches, this is a simple and concrete measure that should lower cellphone charges for every French person by several dozen euros a year on average.

It has taken several years of negotiations to achieve this result which reflects what Europe should be: a project that should benefit citizens, that should make the daily lives of Europeans easier.
