European Union – 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome (March 25, 2017)

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome, the Quai d’Orsay will host a participatory dialogue on the theme of “60 years old already… and tomorrow?” on March 25.

Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, will be available to respond to questions from the public, alongside Pierre Moscovici, European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, and Anne-Marie Autissier, a cultural and media sociologist and Head of the Institute of European Studies at the Université Paris 8.

This event is being organized by the “Mouvement associative” and the “Eurocitoyens” platform, with the support of the European Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development.

During this week of celebrations, Harlem Désir, Minister of State for European Affairs, will also take part in numerous events, many of them organized by civil society. After taking part in the Etats généraux de l’Europe [general forum where the EU is debated] in Lille on March 18, he travelled to Rome on March 21 to take part in an international conference entitled “In search of a new Europe: thoughts and perspectives,” alongside former President of the European Parliament Enrique Barón, Italian Undersecretary for European Affairs Sandro Gozi, and German Minister of State for Europe Michael Roth. In Paris, Harlem Désir will speak at the Maison de l’Europe during a panel debate on March 22.

On this occasion, the facade of the Quai d’Orsay will be partially illuminated and feature animated displays on Friday March 24 and Saturday, March 25, from 7:30 pm to midnight.
