EU – Signature of the European Banking Authority’s headquarters agreement (Paris, 6 March 2019)
European Affairs Minister Nathalie Loiseau, Minister of State attached to the Ministry of Economy and Finance Agnès Pannier-Runacher, and European Banking Authority Chairperson Jo Swyngedouw will sign the EBA’s headquarters agreement on March 6.
The EBA is a European agency whose mission is to regulate and ensure effective prudential oversight of the banking sector at the EU level. Following the UK’s decision to leave the EU, European ministers decided on November 20, 2017, to move it from London to Paris. It sends a strong message about the appeal of Paris and the Ile-de-France region.
The signing of the headquarters agreement will formalize the reestablishment of the European Banking Authority in France.
