Q : What is your response to Hungary and Poland’s opposition to the adoption of the EU draft budget for 2021-2027?

A: Hungary and Poland oppose the adoption of the budget package. The various texts put forward by the German Council Presidency, and in particular the compromise on the rule of law conditionality, represent a realistic balance and are in line with the EU’s economic needs and the protection of its values. We deeply regret this opposition and remain fully committed to facilitating the adoption of these texts in a timely fashion.
