Today, the Minister of State for European Affairs, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is chairing the General Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg.

There will be a rule of law dialogue on Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, the Netherlands and Austria. This dialogue, which was instated under the 2020 German presidency, gives the ministers the opportunity to discuss the state of the rule of law in five member states on a bi-annual basis.

The meeting will give participants the chance to go over the work presented at the Conference on the Future of Europe, in keeping with the exchanges among citizens at the plenary assembly last weekend and in anticipation of the report that will be presented to the three co-chairs on May 9.

On the sidelines of the Council meeting, the Minister of State and the Vice-President of the European Commission for Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight, Maroš Šefčovič, will co-chair an informal meeting with the goal of preparing the European Union’s Strategic Foresight Report on the twin green and digital transitions.
