G7 – Olivier Becht’s participation in the G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting (Osaka, 28-29 October 2023)

Olivier Becht, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness and French Nationals Abroad, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will be in Osaka, Japan, on October 28 and 29 for the second G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting chaired by Japan.

This meeting will address the challenges of sustainable development and digital technology as they relate to trade, as well as the reform of the multilateral trading system, in preparation for the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference taking place in February.

Mr. Becht will particularly stress the importance of the multilateral trading system and its reform, and on the need to ensure fair rules in trade relations and to strengthen dialogue with emerging economies.

On the sidelines of this G7 meeting, the minister will meet with World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Nishimura Yasutoshi, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, as well as several of his counterparts.
