Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, co-chaired, together with Gregory Domingo, Secretary of Trade and Industry of the Philippines, the 7th session of the French-Philippine Economic Committee, which was attended by companies from both countries.
This meeting provided an opportunity to work on strengthening our bilateral cooperation, notably in areas such as the fight against climate disruption, aerospace and agrifood.
The Philippines play an active role in the fight against climate disruption. Following the launch by President Hollande and the minister in February 2015 of the “Manila Call to Action,” the Philippines pledged to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 20% and will chair the Climate Vulnerable Forum – V20. Our two countries have launched, with the support of French development assistance, active cooperation in the sustainable development technologies sector. The French renewable energy sector as well as its public and private stakeholders were highlighted during the meeting of the committee.
