Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs, traveled to the Davos World Economic Forum on January 24. He was accompanied by Pascal Canfin, Minister Delegate for Development.
Laurent Fabius notably participated in the sessions devoted to climate change. He reaffirmed France’s determination to achieve, together with its partners, a universal climate agreement in Paris in December 2015. He underscored the need for all actors to be involved in the 2015 Climate Conference in Paris, particularly the companies that have a critical role to play in the fight against climate change. He notably met with the two Special Envoys of the UN Secretary-General on Climate Change, Jens Stoltenberg and John Kufuor, and with Connie Hedegaard, European Commissioner for Climate Action.
The minister also attended bilateral meetings on economic issues with the leaders of international groups in order to promote, within the framework of economic diplomacy which he has made one of his priorities, the attractiveness of France and the initiatives to restore French competitiveness, including the new responsibility pact.
