Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism, and French Nationals Abroad Matthias Fekl received Dominique Langlois and Marc Pages, chairman and chief executive officer, respectively, of Interbev, the national inter-professional meat and livestock association.
They looked at the challenges facing the sector with respect to exports, examining export financing and support mechanisms and reviewing relevant international trade agreements.
This sector represents 259,000 jobs in France. France is Europe’s top livestock producer, ahead of Germany and Italy, with 19 million head of cattle. It exports nearly 250,000 tons of beef of the 12 million tons produced each year.
