Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will speak today with Peter Altmaier, German Minister for the Economy and Energy.
In the run-up to the Foreign Affairs Council (Trade) scheduled to take place on March 2 via video conference, the ministers will have an initial exchange of views on the new trade policy strategy presented by the European Commission on February 18.
The ministers will also discuss the draft EU-Mercosur agreement. Franck Riester will underscore the need for credible, sustainable, and verifiable responses to the concerns raised by the draft agreement on imported deforestation, respect for the Paris climate agreement and EU health and environmental standards.
