Trade – European Union - Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne’s participation in the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference (Buenos Aires, 10-13 Decembre 2017)

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will take part in the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference in Buenos Aires from December 10 to13. This forum brings together the foreign ministers of the 164 WTO members every two years.


Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne will also take part in the meeting of EU trade ministers on December 10 ahead of the conference.

Several decisions could be adopted on the organization’s working guidelines for the next two years. They could focus in particular on fisheries subsidies (illegal and unregulated fishing), the management of stock for food security purposes, agricultural subsidies, services and e-commerce.

On the sidelines of this conference, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne will present, during a symposium on trade and sustainable development, France’s proposals with respect to strengthening sustainable development provisions in the trade agreements, as indicated in the government’s action plan for the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement with Canada (CETA).

During this visit, he will meet with his German, Australian, Spanish, Dutch and New Zealand counterparts, as well as with Cécilia Malmström, European Trade Commissioner, Phil Hogan, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development. He will also hold bilateral meetings with the Argentine authorities, including Jorge Faurie, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicolas Dujovne, Minister of Economy and Luis Caputo, Minister of Finance.
