Development – Presentation of the Global Sustainable Development Report (October 28, 2016)

André Vallini, Minister of State for Development and Francophonie, presented the Global Sustainable Development Report at the Quai d’Orsay.

This UN report helps inform political decision-makers through scientific analyses.

Thomas Gass, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Policy Coordination and Inter-Agency Affairs, highlighted the key points of this report in the presence of a large number of French researchers, including Jean-Paul Moatti, Chairman and CEO of IRD (French Research Institute for Development), Laurence Monnoyer-Smith, Interministerial Delegate for Sustainable Development, Françoise Gaill, Research Director Emeritus at CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) and Coordinator of the Ocean and Climate Platform, and Domingo Jimenez Beltran, President of Fundación Renovables.

This event provided an opportunity to reexamine the role played by France and French and French-speaking researchers within the framework of the 2030 Agenda and the Technology Facilitation Mechanism, launched jointly with Brazil.
