Development – National Forum for a Renewed Development Policy (22 February 2018)

This morning’s plenary session brought together 400 or so participants representing all non-state actors involved in development and international solidarity: NGOs, private sector, research actors, regional and local authorities and parliamentarians. A high-level round table led by the minister of state notably included Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, Chief Executive Officer of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and former Prime Minister of Niger, Rémy Rioux, Chief Executive Officer of the French Development Agency (AFD), Philippe Jahshan, President of Coordination SUD and EESC member (rapporteur for the opinion on cooperation within the framework of the 2030 Agenda), and Jean-Louis Bancel, Chairman of Crédit Coopératif. The morning session was closed by Raphaël Enthoven, philosopher and author, who shared his vision of solidarity.

This afternoon, four workshops will provide an opportunity for all of the participants to exchange views on issues that are central to France’s development policy: the Guidance and Programming Law on Development and International Solidarity, preparations for the French presidency of the G7, citizen engagement, the territorialization of development policies (with the participation of Annick Girardin, Minister for Overseas France) and the rolling out of the sustainable development objectives in the partner countries.

This forum will have made it possible to involve civil society in the implementation of the conclusions adopted on February 8 by the Interministerial Committee for International Cooperation and Development (CICID); the CNDSI has significantly contributed to the work of the CICID.
