The minister for Europe and foreign affairs tasked the Institut Français with designing and running the French pavilion at the Frankfort Book Fair.
From October 10 to 15, France will be the country of honor at the Fair, the publishing industry’s leading international trade show. Nearly 300 French publishers and more than 130 French-language authors are expected.
The French pavilion is hosting “Francfort en français,” which showcases the French language in all its diversity and the variety of literature it inspires in France and every continent. Young people’s literature will also be highlighted, and the pavilion has invited eight startups selected for their innovations in the areas of writing and publishing.
Promoting the export of French books is one of the priorities of our cultural diplomacy. 18.5% of the revenues of French publishing come from exports and the sale of rights, which have more than doubled in the past 10 years.
