Cultural diplomacy - Cooperation with the Vai-Vai school at the São Paulo Carnival (February 6, 2016)

France will be the country of honor at this year’s Carnival in São Paulo, beginning tomorrow.

During this two-day event, which will be seen by millions of television viewers, Vai-Vai – São Paulo’s oldest and most prestigious samba school – will pay tribute to France as part of a partnership with the French Consulate-General.

More than 3,000 members of this school, including hundreds of French nationals, will march alongside five allegorical floats representing French history, culture and traditions, as well as the modern, innovative, diverse side of France.

As part of this partnership, the Alliance Française of São Paulo will offer French-language classes to several hundred young people from the Vai-Vai school.
