Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will take part in the 5th ministerial meeting of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum on July 6. Launched at Egypt’s initiative, this forum brings together eight members: Egypt, Jordan, Cyprus, Israel, Palestine, Greece, Italy, and, since March 2021, France; the United States has observer status.
The goal of this forum for dialogue on energy issues in the eastern Mediterranean is to support the emergence of practical regional cooperation in the gas and energy transition fields. This cooperation will promote economic growth, political and social stability, and contribute to the efforts of Europe and the region to find ways to decarbonize our economies.
France commends the key role played by Egypt in establishing this new cooperation forum, as well as the dynamism of its members, and looks forward to participating in the work of the EMGF.
