On November 27, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian spoke with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, ahead of the G20 summit in Buenos Aires on November 30 and December 1.

The ministers reaffirmed their desire to see the G20 issue an ambitious final declaration on the climate. Mr. Le Drian underscored the importance of pursuing French-Chinese cooperation ahead of the COP24 in Katowice on December 2-14, which we hope will adopt robust rules to implement the Paris Agreement.

The ministers asserted their shared desire to actively prepare for the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity and its concurrent meetings (COP 15), to be held in China in 2020, and to continue negotiating the Global Pact for the Environment.
