Yemen – Houthi attack in the Gulf of Aden (October 1, 2025)

France condemns in the strongest possible terms the Houthi attack against MV Minervegracht, a Dutch-flagged cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden. Operation Aspides, which France is part of, rescued the crew and cared for those who were injured.

These attacks are an unacceptable obstacle to the freedom of navigation and a threat to the stability of the entire region. They must stop immediately, along with the constant Houthi attacks on Israeli territory.

France, along with its partners, remains fully committed to maritime security and regional stability through the defensive military operation Aspides. France reiterates its support for the legitimate government of Yemen and the resumption of a peace process under the auspices of the United Nations, which remains, in the long-term, the only way to achieve a lasting political solution.
