United States – Meeting between Franck Riester and the U.S. trade representative (video conference, 23 March 2021)

Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will meet today via video conference with Katherine Tai, United States Trade Representative, alongside Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy, Finance and the Recovery.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss economic and trade relations with the United States, which are especially close despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

The ministers will notably discuss with Ms. Tai the determination of France and its partners to swiftly resolve in a balanced manner the trans-Atlantic trade disputes, following the four-month compromise announced on March 5 by the EU and the U.S. in the context of the WTO Airbus and Boeing disputes. The ministers will also discuss the challenges of trans-Atlantic trade cooperation with respect to strengthening the links between trade and sustainable development, the fight against unfair trade practices at the global level, as well as WTO reform.
