United States – Execution of two prisoners (9 February 2023)

Following the execution of Leonard Taylor in Missouri and John Balentine in Texas, France reaffirms its opposition to the death penalty everywhere and in all circumstances. We are strongly committed to the universal abolition of this unjust, inhumane, ineffective punishment. France calls on all nations that still apply the death penalty to place it under a moratorium ahead of its ultimate abolition.
