Q : With regard to French-British relations: are the issues of migrants crossing the Channel and, separately, the EU-UK agreement on the Northern Ireland Protocol currently being discussed?

R : These subjects are being followed at a high level by our political authorities and both call for a dialogue between the EU and the United Kingdom. The Interior Minister went to London last week and publicly reminded his counterpart of the need to abide by international law with respect to maritime rescue operations in an area that now constitutes the EU’s external border. Likewise, the consequences of Brexit and the implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol, whose full respect we have regularly called for, have a central role in discussions between the EU and UK.
