The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs spoke this morning with his British counterpart, Liz Truss.

They agreed on the importance of the message of unity and solidarity conveyed at yesterday’s high-level talks between heads of State and government in Brussels, both at NATO and at the G7. Unity and solidarity must be maintained in every area in order to exert pressure for implementing a ceasefire in Ukraine as quickly as possible.

The two ministers addressed the dire humanitarian situation in Ukraine caused by Russia’s military invasion of that country and by Russian forces’ indiscriminate targeting of Ukrainian cities, making such a ceasefire urgent and essential.

The minister also noted the urgent need to swiftly finalize discussions on the Vienna Agreement on the Iranian nuclear program.
