Amélie de Montchalin, Minister of State for European Affairs attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is in London today for a meeting with her counterpart, Sir Alan Duncan, Minister of State for Europe and the Americas, and Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay. They will discuss the result of the European elections and Brexit.

Amélie de Montchalin will also meet with MPs, including Vince Cable, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, and Hilary Benn, Chair of the Exiting the European Union Select Committee.

She will also have a discussion with the new class of Franco-British “Young Leaders” and will meet with the French community, including French students and students enrolled at London’s Lycée Français.

Coming just a few days after the ceremonies commemorating the 75th anniversary of D-Day, which highlighted the historical ties between France and the United Kingdom, this visit is an opportunity to stress the closeness of the ties between our two countries and to reaffirm the importance we ascribe to our bilateral relationship.
