United Kingdom – Meeting between Mme Nathalie Loiseau and the Scottish First Minister (Paris, 18 February 2019)

Mme Nathalie Loiseau, Minister for European Affairs, hosted a meeting with Ms Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland, on 18 February.

Ms Sturgeon and Mme Loiseau discussed major issues of common interest and, among other things, reviewed the strengthening of French-Scottish relations. With our most long-standing cooperation, in the educational sphere, having been updated at the end of 2018, the Minister expressed our desire to continue the work already begun of identifying, among the powers devolved by the United Kingdom to the Scottish authorities, areas where we could initiate new, mutually-advantageous cooperation projects.
Nathalie Loiseau welcomed the Scottish government’s opening of a representation office at the British Embassy in Paris and expressed the wish that it should be a further tool, alongside our consulate general in Edinburgh, for fostering deeper relations between us.
