Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian hosted his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates.
Mr. Le Drian welcomed the rapprochement among members of the Gulf Cooperation Council. He noted that Iran should immediately resume full respect of its nuclear commitments under the JCPoA in order to preserve regional stability and avoid a serious proliferation crisis. With regard to Libya, the Minister welcomed the latest developments at the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum and called for a strengthened commitment to support the swift nomination of interim executive authorities, the implementation of the ceasefire agreement of October 23, and an end to foreign interference.
The ministers lauded the closeness of our bilateral strategic partnership and stressed our cooperation on the health crisis. Mr. Le Drian emphasized the importance of the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Sorbonne Abu Dhabi in the French-Emirati partnership and the prospect of expanding cooperation in this area.
