The French pavilion at the World Expo in Dubai: solutions for a sustainable future!

Share

The French pavilion at the World Expo in Dubai will be open from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022. For the first World Expo held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, countries from all over the world have gathered in the United Arab Emirates to reflect on, propose and implement concrete solutions for humanity.

France is taking an international cooperation approach and aims to link tradition and modernity, from the Enlightenment to technological innovation.
The aim is to demonstrate France’s commitment to building tomorrow’s world through political, economic, cultural and social initiatives and actions.

The French pavilion at Expo 2021 will show our country’s commitment to a sustainable future and responsible progress. The extensive programme of events will be based around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the UN, setting out political, economic, artistic and social initiatives and actions, led by partners in several spaces:

  • An esplanade, designed as an area to stroll around and relax, which will feature artistic projects;
  • A permanent exhibition called “Light, Enlightenment”, which seeks to redefine the notion of progress. Thanks to a special loan from the French National Archives of the 35 volumes of the Encyclopédie, it will offer a pictorial insight into the key values of the philosophy of the Enlightenment and the Encyclopédie by Diderot and d’Alembert. It will also feature innovative solutions for mobility presented by its partners. The exhibition will conclude with a dream-like and utopian vision of the future in terms of art, education and science;
  • Temporary exhibitions, which will regularly change over the six months of the World Expo, will each pay tribute to a different artistic discipline. There will be five such exhibitions: digital art, tableware, kinetic art, architecture and fashion: Notre-Dame de Paris, the Experience; The French art of living, a dream to be shared; The Chromosaturation Chamber; La Société du Grand Paris; and From A to Z: the Jean Paul Gaultier primer;
  • The Belvedere, an exceptional event space at the pavilion, will host both professional and public events.
