Q. Kiev refused to examine the proposals by Russian representative Dmitri Kozak on the Donbas within the Normandy Format. What is France’s position?

A. France and Germany are tirelessly pursuing their efforts within the Normandy Format to resolve the conflict by diplomatic means, and our G7 partners offered us their full support on March 19. On that occasion, we called on all the parties to fully implement the Minsk Agreement and underscored Russia’s responsibility to engage constructively within the Normandy Format and the Trilateral Contact Group to reach a fair and lasting political solution to the conflict.

Both Russia and Ukraine have crafted proposals reflecting their version of the settlement. All of these proposals are examined carefully and discussed regularly in the Normandy Format. France and Germany have been working to bring the parties’ positions closer together in order to reach a mutually acceptable compromise solution.
