France will participate in the European humanitarian operation that will start today in Ukraine in order to respond to the deteriorating situation of the civilian populations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development Crisis and Support Center was on site to provide 6 tons of equipment: more than 200 sleeping bags, 1,000 blankets, 15 thermal heating systems, two 5,000-liter food tanks, 15 generators and 15 floodlights. A French sécurité civile [emergency services] expert will coordinate the distribution of the equipment.
This assistance is in addition to the measures taken by the Ukrainian authorities. The EU and its UN partners will distribute the equipment in accordance with humanitarian principles. It is intended for all populations in need, especially those people displaced within Ukraine.
