On this anniversary of the attack on Malaysian Airlines flight 17, France offers its heartfelt solidarity to the families of the 298 victims. Our thoughts go out in particular to the Dutch people and authorities, who were hit especially hard by this tragedy.
From the beginning, France has demanded an international investigation to identify and then prosecute the perpetrators, who must be held accountable for their actions. It is under way. Its completion is vital.
We are actively participating in the work currently going on in New York to ensure that justice is done. In that regard, we support the demand made by several countries, including the Netherlands and Malaysia, to create an international special tribunal.
