Q – How do you view the intention of the authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic to hold elections on November 11?
A – France reiterates its commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
The announcement that elections would be held on November 11 is contrary to the Minsk agreements, which remain the only framework for the political resolution of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
Under the Minsk agreements, elections in the territories now under separatist control must be held in accordance with the Ukrainian “special status” law. Any initiative that doesn’t meet these conditions must therefore be condemned.
